How We Ranked The Resorts

Our criteria were very high from the beginning. Would we be comfortable recommending a family invest thousands of pounds on an annual ski trip at these destinations? A resounding yes was needed for inclusion in the list. With guidance from the Colorado Ski Country USA, we selected those who passed the acid test – those who really perform on snow, on logistics, and for families. These top contenders then underwent our assessment based on seven weighted parameters to reflect actual parent preferences: family-friendly facilities (25%), value-for-money (20%), accessibility from the UK (15%), terrain types (15%), activities outside skiing (10%), development level (10%), and crowd size (5%). 

Our criteria included concrete data and numbers – statistics on the resort, pricing for 2025, and customer feedback, along with qualitative measures like personal experiences at Beaver Creek Resort. This resulted in nine resorts that clearly stood above the others, while those like Arapahoe Basin, Loveland Ski Area, and Sunlight Mountain Resort made up for the lack of family-oriented facilities by scoring highly on value-for-money alone.
