2021 promises to be the year that the sporting world gets up and at ’em, as big events loom large on the horizon for elite athletes and sports fans alike.

In this article we give a little rundown of all the sporting feasts that are scheduled to take place this summer.

Which ones do you already have marked off on your calendar?

The Grand National always demands attention whenever it is run, but 2021 will mark a special return for the famous old steeplechase

Aintree Grand National

This revered steeplechase that takes place on the outskirts of Liverpool in the UK did not take place in 2020 and so its running in April 2021 will be a special occasion for race goers, horse owners, and the jockeys.

Kicking off a great summer of sport will be Tiger Roll, who goes in search of a stunning hattrick of Grand National victories. Even though the odds are against the veteran hurdler pulling the feat off, there will be no shortage of horse racing punters using sports free bets [valid where legal] to back this Gordon Elliott trained horse, that has over £1.3m in career earnings.

Whether racing lovers watch from the Aintree grandstands or on their betting app live streams, they can expect no shortage of action, fascinators, and hoarse commentators calling the winner down the home straight.

Top athletes from all over the globe will be jetting off to Japan this summer to take part in the greatest sporting spectacle of them all

Tokyo Olympics

The Olympics are the pinnacle of any athlete’s career, unless you play basketball, soccer, or golf. One of the great things about these ancient games are the fact they go globetrotting every four years. This time it is the turn of Japanese sports fans to get a front row seat for the action.

With such an exotic setting, and world records just ready and waiting to be broken, the Olympics could be exactly what puts the cherry on top of this summer’s sports offering.

Euro 2020

Despite now taking place in 2021, this summer’s European soccer championships are forging ahead with what the suits at UEFA insist is Euro 2020.

No matter what it is called, this tournament promises to be an absolute belter, as young guns like Kylian Mbappé and Ansu Fati look to steal the limelight from established stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo. Will CR7’s Portuguese be able to stun the bookies and the sporting world once more by defending their title or will a team like Belgium or England finally deliver on their promise.

Fury vs. Joshua?

Depending on how long the negotiations drag out, this potential super fight could take place this summer or a little later down the line, but either way it is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. Can Fury cap his incredible comeback from the depths of despair, or will AJ write his name into the history books as an Olympic gold medallist who then became the unified and undisputed heavyweight champion of the world?

One thing that is for sure is when the leather starts flying all eyes will be on these two warriors, whether the fight takes place in the UK or further afield.

Wimbledon

Nothing says summer quite like the straw hats, punnets of strawberries and lashings of cream that make Wimbledon an iconic event. During the first two weeks of July the great and the good of the tennis world will descend on the leafy outskirts of London to do battle on the All England Lawn Tennis Club’s pristine grass courts.

The current champions are Novak Djokovic and Simona Halep. Few would bet against the Serb taking a step closer to Federer and Nadal at the top of the all-time Grand Slam charts, whereas the women’s title really is there for the taking.

What is for sure is that the world will be tuning in as soon as the opening serve of this tournament is sent down.
