In between working, household chores, paying bills, preparing lunches and dinners, doing the school run, taking kids to after-school activities and all the other responsibilities that come along with being a parent, it can sometimes feel difficult to just spend quality time and be there with your kids. If you want to spend more quality time just enjoying life with your kids and trying out new things together, the good news is that you don’t always have to do something that takes a lot of effort. Sometimes it’s the simplest things that you can do together that will have the biggest impact.

Play Sports Together

Keeping active as a family isn’t just a great way to keep you all in peak physical shape and have better mental health, but it can also be a great way to spend quality time with your kids. Sports does not have to be something that is always competitive; it can be a great way to have fun and unwind after a stressful week at work and school. Consider a portable pitching platform for playing baseball together; they all have transport wheels equipped making them easy to use at the gym, the local park, at home or even on vacation.

Have a Movie Night

Spending quality time with your kids doesn’t always need to mean that you’re deep in conversation. A movie night can be a fun way to spend more time with your kids without a lot of effort on anybody’s part. If you’re all tired after a long day, then watching a movie together can be a great way to bond as a family and spend more time together while relaxing. Go to the local cinema for a fun trip out, or set up your home for a prime movie viewing experience complete with blanket forts, popcorn and pizza.

Learn Something New Together

Learning something new together can be an excellent way to spend more quality time with your kids while improving your knowledge and skills at the same time. A popular option is conflict resolution games for kids. This is a great option for children who might be more receptive to learning a new skill alongside an adult. Learning how to cook a certain dish, how to speak in a different language, or a creative skill like sewing, painting or pottery can be a great way to spend time together with your child and help them discover what they’re good at and enjoy at the same time.

Set Aside Time Before Bedtime

Setting aside some time at the end of the day to spend with your kids can be the perfect way to fit more quality time into each day along with getting everybody into a relaxing bedtime routine. At the end of the day, spending quality time together will be a great way to finish on a good note no matter what’s happened in the day since you woke up. As part of a relaxing bedtime routine, this could be time that you set aside to read books together, read a story to your younger kids, watch a TV show before bedtime, or listen to a podcast that the whole family enjoys.

Prioritize Family Dinner

While any busy family knows that it’s not always possible to sit down and have dinner together every day, aim to do this at least once a week to spend more quality time together. Dinner nights for the family can be something that everybody gets involved in, including taking turns in choosing what to eat and all cooking together. Even better; make a no phones at the table rule so that everybody can catch up.

Spending quality time with your kids can sometimes be tricky when you all lead busy lives, but getting more time together can be simpler than you realize.
