LEGO Disney Princess Playsets

Back in 2013, LEGO Disney Princess playsets were on the way for 2014. The preview featured two Little Mermaid sets, two Cinderella sets, one Brave set, and a Rapunzel set. Castles, a carriage, a tower, and absolutely no shortage of royal obligations.
LEGO Disney Princess Sets Announced for 2014
That meant six boxed sets built around four princesses: Ariel, Cinderella, Merida, and Rapunzel. LEGO’s official building-instruction archive confirms the following names and set numbers.
The Six Sets in the Preview
| Set number | Set name |
|---|---|
| 41050 | Ariel’s Amazing Treasures |
| 41051 | Merida’s Highland Games |
| 41052 | Ariel’s Magical Kiss |
| 41053 | Cinderella’s Dream Carriage |
| 41054 | Rapunzel’s Creativity Tower |
| 41055 | Cinderella’s Romantic Castle |
Disney Princess Mini-Dolls Instead of LEGO Minifigures
These were mini-doll figures rather than the traditional LEGO minifigure format. That distinction is reflected in LEGO’s own description of Cinderella’s Romantic Castle, which identifies Cinderella and Prince Charming as mini-dolls.
Where Was the Rest of the Princess Lineup?
What gives? That’s two redheads and two blondes! Where my brunettes at? Where’s the diversity? LEGO, I am usually 1000000% on board with everything you do, but I’m a little concerned here.
That was the frustration behind the original preview: the selection focused on a small part of Disney’s princess roster, with Ariel and Cinderella each getting two sets. It was a reaction to this particular lineup, rather than a description of every Disney set LEGO would ever make.
What Came Later
The range did expand. One much later example was The Enchanted Treehouse, set 43215, released in 2023. LEGO listed 13 mini-doll characters, including Tiana, Mulan, Jasmine, Moana, Pocahontas, Raya, and Mirabel. That is a very different guest list from the four-character preview.
For a look at that later release, ellieV’s Enchanted Treehouse review is included below. It covers a different set, not the original 2014 wave.
Thank you to Dragon Lord for the original tip! He told us he was holding out for a Beauty and the Beast set. There was eventually good news on that front, too: LEGO’s archive dates Belle’s Enchanted Castle, set 41067, to 2016.
