There’s something about periods – people love to hate them. As women, your period announces that you are finally maturing. You know that you aren’t a little kid anymore, and you feel like you’re ready to be an adult. But at the same time, you have to think about having pads and tampons on deck at all times. You have to worry about when you’re bleeding, whether you’re going to bleed through your pad or clothing, you feel bloated and cramping. However, periods, with all of their shortcomings, are such a good thing and liberating thing as a woman.

Why should you love your period?

  1. Your period may make you even hornier.

Some women feel so gross during their periods, whereas other women want to be cuddled, have sex, and kiss! Either way, there’s nothing wrong with either. Hormones can affect everyone differently. If you and your partner still connect through the hormonal changes and bleeding, take advantage of it! Your partner should be pampering you and loving you during your period, but you can both enjoy the vibes of having amazing sex even when on your period.

  1. You may have a confidence boost!

For some, once the initial few days of your period are over, you may feel even sexier than before. You know that your body is capable of anything, and you know you’re through the worst of your cycle. It’s normal in the first few days to feel bloated and gross, but this feeling should be subsiding.

  1. Periods are a great excuse to be lazy.

Just like we justify Netflix and chill while we’re sick, your period is the same. Watch TV, eat ice cream, and enjoy doing less! Take it slow. Get your partner to do the dishes and take the garbage out. Order food in! Take part in self care.

  1. Dress casually!

Wear your sweats, cuddle up in a robe, and just be relaxed. No need to get all dressed up when you feel so gross. This in itself can be super comforting and make you feel better.

  1. Your emotions are understandable.

Feel like crying? Go for it. Your hormones are doing their thing on your body, and that is totally ok. It may even release some tension and stress that is built up, making you feel better than any Motrin could. You are allowed to be emotional and feel upset for what seems like no reason. Plus, you may even feel more bitchier than usual. That is part of what PMS does! It’s not your fault, and it is ok to let this go. Anyway, men blame periods for these feelings anyway, so take advantage of it while you can.

  1. You and your friends may cycle sync!

Surprisingly, when you hang out with girls, you tend to sync up in cycles. It’s a weird phenomenon, but it’s nice to have someone that understands what’s going on, and will also have an emergency tampon when it is needed. You can relax together, do self care like face masks, and enjoy movies together. It’s a great bonding time to have together with your friends.

  1. You Can Probably Have Babies – but you aren’t pregnant!

Having a period is a plus because it means you are releasing eggs and having a cycle! This means you can probably have babies, which is always a plus. Some women do have irregular periods – if that is you, be sure to check in with your doctor and make sure all is well. The other plus side of your period is the fact that it means you are not pregnant! Even when you use protection, sometimes you may worry that you have gotten pregnant anyway. That’s why a monthly period can be such a stress reliever for so many women. It’s one less thing to worry about if you aren’t trying to get pregnant right now.

Listen, periods suck, but they are a blessing to have. Pour yourself a glass of wine, enjoy a movie and ice cream, and prioritize self love and self care. It’s ok to be selfish during this time. It’s also a great excuse to vent out your frustrations to your friends and partner!

How to Masturbate and Use Sex Toys During Your Period

Using sex toys during your period can be a safe and enjoyable experience. Here are some tips to consider:

  1. Use protection: To prevent the spread of menstrual blood, it’s recommended to use a tampon or menstrual cup during period masturbation.
  2. Experiment with positions: Different positions can provide different levels of comfort during period masturbation. Experimenting with different positions can help you find what works best for you.
  3. Use a lubricant: During menstruation, your body may produce less natural lubrication, so using a water-based lubricant can help enhance the experience and prevent discomfort.
  4. Pay attention to hygiene: Regularly cleaning your hands, vibrating toys and dildos is important to maintain good hygiene during period masturbation.

It’s also important to consider the type of sex toy you use. Some sex toys may be more comfortable or easier to use during your period, so it may be helpful to experiment with different options to see what works best for you.

It is important to remember that your period does not affect your sexual desire and you can still engage in sexual activities, including using sex toys, if you feel comfortable doing so. As with any sexual activity, it is important to prioritize your own comfort, safety, and enjoyment.
