Gullfoss Waterfall
The Gullfoss Waterfall is one of the most popular sights in the country. It is located on the Hvítá river canyon in south-west Iceland and is part of the Golden Circle tour.
The waterfall is viewed from above, and Iceland authorities have put in several viewing platforms where you can see this iconic vision.
In the summer meltwater from the Langjökull glacier falls 11 metres and then a further 21 metres into a gorge. This two-stage waterfall is a remarkable demonstration of the power and beauty of nature.
Geysir Hot Springs
Geysir hot springs is a region of Iceland where water shoots hundreds of feet into the air. This geothermal area is home to the mighty Strokkur which shoots water 30 metres into the air every few minutes. This is the star attraction, and the whole region is fascinating, especially as it is unlikely you would have seen anything like it elsewhere.

North Iceland

Akureyri – This town has some of the oldest buildings in the country and offers quite a lively, vibrant vibe. The town is intriguing in its own right and makes a good base of operations.
Goðafoss Waterfall – Goðafoss translates to ‘Waterfall of the Gods’ and thanks to its curved nature, it is easy to see why. Formed by the Skjálfandafljót river, it is a place of Nordic myth. Here it is believed Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði threw the pagan god statues into the river and thereby leading the country to embrace Christianity.
