This Wig Vase Is Possibly The Coolest Vase Ever

This is the Wig Vase by designer Tania da Cruz. Instead of disappearing beneath a bouquet, the vase becomes part of the joke: it’s shaped like a head, and the flowers supply the hair. Finally, a floral arrangement with somewhere to put its fringe.

How the Wig Vase Works

The ceramic head has openings at the top for flowers and foliage. An internal water container holds the stems, letting the arrangement become a hairstyle. Short flowers, taller leaves, a carefully placed bloom—the point is to play hairdresser with whatever you put in it.

ArchiPanic’s 2014 coverage connected the vase’s elongated features to Amedeo Modigliani’s portraits and identified it as a design for Idilli. The face stays the same while the flowers change its personality. Some days, tidy and respectable. Other days, apparently late for band practice.

A Vase With a Changeable Hairdo

This wasn’t just a nice idea on a sketchpad. A 2015 announcement from retailer Gessato described the vase as handcrafted in Italy from ceramic, with matte black, matte white, and glossy white finishes.

Wig Vase Colors and Original Price

The original post linked to black and white versions on Houzz and listed a price of $315 each. That is the price recorded in the original article, rather than a verified current offer.

Man, you know those people who pronounce vase like “vahz”? Those people are fancy. Me, I’m not fancy. I ate a raw hot dog for dinner last night. Okay, actually, I ate two. I’m a growing boy! Just kidding, I am neither of those things.
