iGaming is a phenomenon that has swept across the world. In the past year, its unprecedented rise has pushed many countries to change their stance on online gambling legalization. In the USA, states are allowed to bring decisions on its own. With the exception of a few states, all others have either legalized online gambling or are in the process of doing so.

Online casinos are also popular across the border in Canada. The Canadian iGaming scene is booming. Dunder casino is growing in popularity [valid where legal] and driving the industry forward, with numerous other web casinos following its example. While Canada allows online gambling and is reaping nice profits, it still has a lot to go before it reaches the heights of the US online gambling market.

What Do the Numbers Say?

All across the USA, online gambling revenue is growing. That goes double for the past year of lockdowns and land-based casino shutdowns that have driven the iGaming industry to new heights. The online gambling market is especially big in Pennsylvania, with many others in line to allow online gambling.

The numbers are stunning. Is new fiscal year started with a massive bang. Online casinos and sportsbooks have brought in a revenue of over $100 million for the 5th straight month, and there’s no signs of slowing down. In Nevada and New Jersey, the numbers are even bigger. It’s clear that the iGaming market is making a huge splash in the USA, and many are hopeful that it will trickle down to Canada too.

From a legal point of view, Canada has nothing against online casinos. They need a license from the government, though, and that won’t come easy. On the other hand, offshore casinos are perfectly legal to play at. Canadians choose these casinos as they have a sublime offer of bonuses and promotions that no Canadian casino can match.

Things are already looking up for iGaming in Canada, although there’s still a long way to go before the country experiences USA’s boom.

What Needs to Change for iGaming

Before iGaming explodes in the country of Canada, the legal status needs to change. Online gambling in Canada falls into the legal grey area. While there’s no law against betting online, the service or operator need a valid Canadian license. The other option is to be owned and operated by a provincial government.

To put it simply, the government won’t ban you from playing casino games on the web, but getting the money out is a bit complicated. If Canada makes online gambling fully legal, and there’s been a push for such a law, it can and will experience a boom like the one happening in the USA right now.

When the government passes such a bill, operators will line up for Canadian expansion. Canadian players love to gamble online and that’s a fact. With a bit of help from the government, the country can reap the financial advantages the USA is already seeing.
