Organizing your clutter can be difficult if you do not take your time to do things the proper way. Is it possible to clean and organize your home without spending a lot of money? It may seem like an impossible task, especially during these tough economic times, but if you know how to look for bargains and save money where you can, you can actually keep your budget intact while getting in some much-needed cleaning and organizing.

Make Use Of Storage Unit

You can save yourself a lot of stress by keeping your items in the order. One of the best ways to get organized on a small budget is by using cheaper storage units to store things you don’t necessarily need all that often, but still want to keep around for when they’re next needed. A great example of this type of item is winter clothing. Sure, you’ll need them during the winter months, but between then and now they can just take up space in your bedroom closet. Instead, purchase some inexpensive storage containers with lids to keep them all nicely packed away until next winter rolls around.

Also, consider buying a new suitcase or two to store items like bedsheets and blankets over the summer months when they won’t be needed. Most of us have a few favorite books that we like to keep around the house, but many times they can take up a lot of room on our nightstands and kitchen counters.

Rather than taking up valuable space in your home, store them in lidded storage containers that can stack neatly away under your bed or in a spare bedroom. You can also save yourself lots of money and time by using some good old common sense when you’re buying cleaning supplies.

Declutter

A lot of people are aware that clutter is terrible for your home, which is why it’s important to get rid of anything that isn’t useful. But where does one start with so much stuff lying around the house? There are many ways to begin minimizing, including getting rid of things you don’t need anymore and donating junk to charities.

You have probably heard before that you should donate anything you haven’t worn in 6 months or a year, which is sound advice. If you haven’t touched it after several seasons, it’s time to part with items you don’t need.

Piles of paper can crowd out the good vibes in your home, so every once in a while it’s important to take stock and get rid of unnecessary things like junk mail or receipts. If you find yourself with an overstuffed recycling bin every week, it might be time to cut down on the number of catalogs you receive.

Label Your Storage Unit

You want to organize your home because you have a lot of things that are not well organized, and it is difficult for you to find them when you need them. One way to make everything easier is by organizing the things in drawers or boxes, labeling each box or drawer with words describing what’s inside. For example, you can write “cookware” on a box containing pots and pans.

An easier way to find things is by marking or labeling items as they are used up or as you purchase them.  For example, if you buy cereal, write the name of the cereal on the box with a marker. You can then place the full box in one area of your pantry.

You should start organizing places around your home where you have trouble finding items or putting them back, such as drawers or boxes containing less frequently used items.

Keep Broken Appliances Where They Can Be Easily Accessed

Find a place that’s easy to access, maybe near the door or in a garage. When you have appliances that need repairs, it’s important not to let them pile up and become a problem for finding things later on. Put them in a designated area so they’re easy to get a hold of when something needs to be fixed. If your home is cluttered with appliances, you might have to take a trip down memory lane to remember what you have. Just because something is broken right now doesn’t mean it won’t start working again later on.

If you can keep track of your appliances while they’re being repaired, there’s no need to spend money on new products. Clutter should not be a problem if you have a designated area for appliances that need to be fixed. Make sure the area is easy to access. If you can’t find your appliance right away, it’s going to lead to more clutter and problems later on.

Start organizing your home from the most important spaces in your house such as the living room, bedroom, and kitchen. Decide on the type of storage you want, like drawer organization or hanging up clothes. Make sure you keep things in their designated spot to avoid wasting time looking for them when you need them. When storing items away make it easy to access by keeping frequently used items in plain view and putting less-used items in harder-to-reach spots like the back of drawers.
