Your Bathroom Desperately Needs The Poop Emoji Plunger

Meet the Poo-Plunger, a poop emoji plunger. Yes, this is a thing that actually exists. Because apparently somebody looked at the smiling pile of poop emoji and thought, “You know what would make this even better? Sticking it on the end of a toilet plunger.”

And you know what? They’re not wrong.

Created by The Plunger Project, the Poo-Plunger was introduced through a Kickstarter campaign in 2016. Early supporters could reportedly snag one for $15, while the original article listed a regular price of $25. Imagine! Getting poop unstuck using a poop emoji plunger. So meta. Okay, okay, kinda meta.

The design replaces the boring rubber plunger look with a familiar smiling brown swirl, complete with big eyes and a ridiculously cheerful expression. It’s basically the happiest thing you could possibly encounter while dealing with one of life’s least pleasant bathroom emergencies.

A Poop Emoji Plunger With a Surprisingly Serious Mission

Believe it or not, the Poo-Plunger wasn’t just designed to make people laugh while unclogging their toilets. The Plunger Project also wanted to use the novelty product to support clean water and sanitation efforts around the world.

The creators promoted the idea of donating a portion of the proceeds to organizations working to improve access to safe drinking water and sanitation. Which is a surprisingly noble goal for something shaped like a cartoon turd.

The idea was simple: Take an everyday household necessity, give it a ridiculous makeover, and hopefully do some good in the process.

And really, why shouldn’t your bathroom accessories have a little personality? You’ve got decorative soap dispensers, fancy towels nobody is allowed to touch, and toilet paper holders shaped like everything imaginable. A smiling pile of poop on a stick fits right in.

Plus, imagine the look on your guests’ faces when they discover this thing next to the toilet. Nothing says “Welcome to my home” quite like a grinning poop emoji waiting to assist with an emergency.

From Kickstarter to the Bathroom

The idea eventually attracted the attention of Squatty Potty, the company behind the popular toilet stool. In 2017, Squatty Potty announced a partnership with The Plunger Project founder Carl Hickerson to bring the Poo Emoji Plunger to a wider audience.

The companies launched another Kickstarter campaign that July, and by October 2017, Squatty Potty announced that the product was headed to Bed Bath & Beyond stores.

So this wasn’t just some ridiculous bathroom invention that disappeared into the crowdfunding abyss. The smiling poop plunger actually made its way into mainstream retail.

As for the original Poo-Plunger, it might be one of the few household products where the joke practically writes itself. A poop-shaped plunger for dealing with actual poop? That’s either the pinnacle of human ingenuity or proof that we’ve officially run out of things to invent.

Thanks to Carl for sending in the original tip! He’s one of the brains behind the whole operation. A genius, if you will.

Now excuse me while I go clog a toilet. For research purposes, obviously.
