The Social Shower Curtain Cleans Up Your Facebook Profile

The bathroom is a great place to catch up on all the crap that’s happening on Facebook, but if you’re taking your smartphone in the tub, your obsession has gone too far. Put the phone down, scrub the barnacles off, and stop worrying about how many likes your new profile pic got.

Meet the Facebook-Inspired Social Shower Curtain

If it helps, you can pretend you’re still on Facebook with the Social Shower Curtain. It looks like an old-school profile page, complete with bathroom-themed jokes and the sort of social activity you probably didn’t need following you into the shower.

A Shower Curtain That Turns You Into the Profile Picture

The curtain was sold under the Spinning Hat brand. Its best visual gag was a transparent window in the spot where a profile picture would normally appear. Stand behind it, and you become the live version of your own profile photo. Finally, a picture that updates without making you choose a filter.

The original post had its own concerns about those bathroom “friends” telling lame jokes and tagging you in inappropriate photos. Seriously, Shower Head is taking pics of you? Creepy. That’s a joke about the printed design, of course, rather than a camera feature.

A Throwback to Facebook Before Timeline

Coverage published in January 2012 described the curtain as a send-up of Facebook’s earlier profile layout, before Timeline took over the joke. Think of it as a little piece of social-media history hanging beside the bath.

Luckily, it’s not in Timeline format, because no one needs the play-by-play of what you’re doing in the shower.
