There’s only so many times you can look at stuffy old paintings before you say, “You know what? Imma be honest. I don’t care! Not even a little. When I go to Paris I’d rather get drunk at a discothèque than go to the Louvre. There! I said it! I’m not cultured!” And that’s exactly why this video featuring animated shorts based on famous paintings is so great—it combines high culture and low brow comedy perfectly. While the animation isn’t exactly Terry Gilliam style (in that there are no giant feet), the humor feels very Monty Python inspired. The video is a collaboration between animators Doug Bayne, Ben Baker and Trudy Cooper and the sketch comics of The Elegant Gentleman’s Guide to Knife Fighting.
