It’s Undeniable — The LEGO Burger Is Awesome
Remember when your parents told you not to eat LEGO bricks? Well, somebody in the Philippines apparently took that as a challenge. Brick Burger, a restaurant in Pasig City, created burgers with buns shaped like giant LEGO bricks. REAL, EDIBLE LEGO-INSPIRED BURGERS. And they’re pretty much everything we never knew we needed. The colorful brick buns come in different shades, complete with those familiar little studs on top. It’s like somebody combined a toy store with a burger joint, and honestly, we’re HERE for it.
Who Created Brick Burger in the Philippines?
The restaurant opened in August 2016, thanks to LEGO enthusiast Jergs Correa, who wanted a burger joint inspired by his favorite childhood building blocks. And he didn’t stop at the food. The restaurant itself featured a LEGO-inspired interior, making the whole experience feel like stepping into a world of oversized toy bricks. Finally, a place where playing with your food seems completely appropriate.
What Was on the Brick Burger Menu?
And these weren’t just ordinary burgers with funny-looking bread. When Brick Burger made headlines in February 2017, reports described a menu with 10 different burgers, featuring toppings like bacon, macaroni and cheese, caramelized onions, and barbecue sauce. The buns came in eye-catching colors, including red, yellow, and black, with food coloring used to create the effect. Apparently, burgers weren’t colorful enough already. We needed them to look like something from a LEGO collection.
Were LEGO Burgers Officially Made by LEGO?
There is one important detail, though: Brick Burger wasn’t officially affiliated with LEGO. The burgers were inspired by the famous building blocks, not actual LEGO products. Which is probably a good thing, considering real plastic bricks are not exactly known for being delicious. Or edible. Or particularly pleasant to step on.
But there’s one problem with these LEGO burgers. The brick-shaped buns look like they should snap together, but sadly, they don’t actually stack like real LEGO pieces. HOW AM I GOING TO MAKE THE BURGER HOUSE OF MY DREAMS?! It looks like I’ll have to find another way. Ugh. And I was already planning the kitchen.
