Try Not To Get Hungry Looking At This Insanely Impressive Oreo Art

Artist Tisha Cherry uses Oreos as her canvas and the creme filling as her medium. That’s right—Oreo art. Powerful stuff. Really moving. It’s truly inspiring! …me to go to the store and buy some Oreos.

Meet Tisha Cherry and Her Incredible Oreo Art

How Does Tisha Cherry Make Oreo Art?

In a 2015 interview with ABC News, Cherry described working with toothpicks, knives, reference photos, and a collection of creme fillings. Mixing those fillings gives her different colors to work with. Depending on the piece, a cookie can take minutes or hours to complete.

Hours. On one Oreo. Meanwhile, I consider getting the two cookie halves apart without breaking either one a major artistic achievement.

A Cookie-Sized Canvas for Art and Pop Culture

Cherry’s subjects range from famous artworks to movie imagery and internet favorites. As Fast Company reported, her creations have drawn on everything from Mondrian to Jaws. It’s an unusually small space for that much detail, especially when the material is something most of us scrape off with our teeth.

That familiar cookie is part of the appeal. You know exactly how little room she has to work with. You also know how easily the whole thing could disappear during an unsupervised snack break.

Would I have the patience to make one? Probably not. Would I have the restraint to leave a packet of art supplies uneaten? Absolutely not. Respect to Cherry for having both talent and a working relationship with cookies that doesn’t immediately end in crumbs.
