Man & Dog Recreate Movie Scenes

Chris Naka and Wrigley the dog recreate iconic movie scenes, and Hollywood should probably be taking notes. Their photo series, shared online under the username mmsspp, includes takes on Brokeback Mountain, Dirty Dancing, Titanic, and The Hunger Games. I don’t know who’s the better actor: the human or the dog. Okay, it’s definitely the dog.

Meet the Stars of Wrigley at the Movies

As contemporary coverage explained, Wrigley belonged to Naka’s boss, and the recreations were a workplace project fitted into lunch breaks. Some people spend lunch catching up on emails. These people were busy giving a dog a romantic leading role. Clear winners here.

Familiar Movie Moments, With a Canine Co-Star

The series draws on recognizable poses and compositions, swapping a human movie star for Wrigley. That simple change does a lot of the comedy. You recognize the dramatic setup, then remember that one of the performers is a dog. Suddenly the grand romantic gesture has some stiff competition from a pair of floppy ears.

The collection also includes scenes inspired by The Notebook, Ghost, Spider-Man, and Say Anything. That’s a pretty respectable filmography for someone who presumably didn’t have to memorize a single line.

Then again, I could be biased. Give me a dog in a starring role and I’m already interested. You ever planned an Air Bud marathon and realized that your entire Saturday night was suddenly accounted for? No? Just me? Fine. More popcorn for the person who appreciates canine cinema.

Wrigley doesn’t need a talking-dog script or a sports championship to carry this project. A familiar movie moment and a human willing to commit to the bit will do nicely. I’d watch the sequel.
