Unless you’re a thirsty plant, getting caught in a rainstorm is never a good thing. Even with a reliable raincoat and umbrella, nobody likes trudging through a downpour. But Wrk-shp’s Living Raincoat has an additional feature that might make the experience a little bit cooler. Inspired by sustainable architecture, specifically breathable walls, designer Airi Isoda playfully translated green-building principles into something wearable. While you’re getting soaked, at least the rainwater will be nourishing some plant life…all thanks to you and your funny-looking coat. Using Tyvek, a recyclable high-density fiber that allows water vapor, but not liquid water, to pass through, real wheatgrass, “grows” with every rainy trek you take.
