If it was your last chance to write something EVER, what would you write? And, keeping in mind that it’s going to be preserved forever, how would you write it? Artist Bili Bidjocka and curator Simon Njami are traveling the world asking this same question, urging creative types to write something in one of 8 massive notebooks. The project, Ecriture Infinie (Infinite Writing), is a tribute to creativity as well as handwriting itself. After they are filled, each book will be hidden somewhere secret until they are discovered. The creators say that the project’s purpose is not to analyze society, but simply to explore the writing process. However as someone who hasn’t written anything significant by hand in years, it’s easy to sense an underlying statement about technology removing some of the personality and emotion from the writing process.
