What could you do with a bunch of ripped papers…other than make a mess? Maybe you could re-use them as scrap paper or make a Picasso-esque piece. Melbourne, Florida based Derek Gores does one better. Using ripped paper that is gathered from recycled magazines, labels, and other found materials, he creates gorgeous collage portraits. Derek, who has worked as a commercial illustrator and designer for 15 years, turns what would otherwise be considered bits of junk, into unique works of art. The result is a literal translation of the old “one man’s trash” adage. Grandma knew what was up after all.
