Many things that modern society deems valuable and full of substance are actually both fleeting and hollow. Finnish artist Jiri Geller clearly expresses that sentiment through each piece of art he creates. Whether it’s a sculpture of Mickey Mouse’s severed hand, or a spilled and melted ice cream cone, Geller’s work is sure to make you think a little harder about the material world around us, and the true value of the things you hold dear. While the deeper meaning behind Geller’s work isn’t lost on me, I definitely laughed out loud at the piece depicting a squashed Mickey Mouse. Does that make me a bad person?
