Some statues seem to somehow capture movement in lifeless stone or metal through use of dynamic poses and masterful depiction of taut flesh over muscles. However the Human Motion sculptures by Peter Jansen achieve the feeling of motion through a uniquely new approach. Each statue depicts dozes of stages in motion, one stacked on top of another to create a strange blur of shapes. Almost like frames in animation the viewer can clearly see each stage in a motion, whether it’s a figure walking, running or kicking.
