Created in response to the rapidly aging population in Japan, this Hair-Washing Robot is a part of a trend of care-giving robot technologies that cover regular chores. In an effort to satisfy that, Panasonic has introduced this machine, which uses robotic technology to replicate the touch of the human hand to care for the hair of the elderly and handicapped. While the ‘customer’ leans back for a shampoo, massage and rinse in three minutes, the robot’s 24 fingers work their magic. In another 5 minutes, the hair is conditioned and blown-dry. With all due respect to the aging population in Japan, I really wouldn’t mind having one of these at home for lazy days.
