If you’re TTC, I won’t go on without letting you know that this is just Think Geek’s latest April Fool’s spoof. After all, you’re already on a wild emotional roller coaster. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, consider yourself lucky. So how would this work if it were real? Like most pregnancy tests, you pee on a stick, specifically the absorbent test strip at one end. Next you remove the cap from the other end of the stick (cleverly provided to keep you from contaminating the wrong end) to reveal the USB connector. Pop this in your computer and the power from your USB port starts the electrospray ionization process, resulting in a spectrograph of your urine analysis. The screen would display a bar chart of your hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotropin), hCG-h (hyperglycosylated hCG), and LH (lutenizing hormone). That last one will also help to let you know your most fertile days, so you can figure out when NOT to get it on, if baby making isn’t your goal. A reusable pregnancy/ovulation test is a pretty cool idea, considering how many soiled sticks get thrown away month after month. And it wouldn’t be the first time one of Think Geek’s April Fool’s products came to life…
