The Sugarchair by Pieter Brenner raises a lot of questions. I’m not talking about the obvious ones – those are all covered by Brenner’s website. Thanks to his site, we know that the chair is made of 30 kilos of sugar, and if you want to pick one up, you can actually get involved in the design process. I’m thinking of the less obvious questions like how do you keep the family dog from whittling down one of the legs? Is it sticky? How do you keep party guests from breaking off a leg to eat? If you spill your drink on it, does it dissolve leaving you chairless?? I guess the only way to find out is to get one.
